A MOL Thermol 46 hőközlőolaj magas viszkozitás indexű, szűk forráspont-tartománnyal rendelkező olaj. A megengedett legnagyobb filmhőmérséklet a hőátadó felületen 350 °C, a rendszerben max. 330 °C. A hőközvetítő közeg élettartama nagymértékben függ a hőközlő rendszer kialakításától és az üzemelési körülményektől. Megfelelően tervezett és szélsőséges terhelésektől megkímélt rendszer esetén az élettartam elérheti az 5 évet. Élettartama jelentősen növelhető alacsony nyomású (1,2-1,5 bar túlnyomás) inertgáz atmoszféra (nitrogén) tágulási tartályban való alkalmazásával. Biztonsági és gazdasági okokból ajánlott az olaj állapotának rendszeres, de évenként legalább egyszeri ellenőrzése. A MOL Thermol 46 hőközlőolaj a legtöbb szintetikus olajnál biztonságosabban kezelhető. Nem mérgező, alacsony gőznyomású termék, alkalmazását követően fáradt olajként gyűjthető az újrahasznosítás vagy ártalmatlanítás céljából. A hőközlés szempontjából lényeges fizikai jellemzői a hőmérséklet függvényében külön táblázatban találhatók meg.
